Caring for Your Van Livery

Choosing commercial graphics for your business is smart, and van livery is a great way to make a statement about your brand. A properly installed van livery can last up to 8 years, creating impressions up and down the roads, wherever you go. For it to last, there are some essential steps to consider. This blog gives you our expert tips for caring for your livery, keeping it looking its best for years to come.

Keep it Clean

Like any vehicle, keeping your van clean is imperative to ensure it makes the best possible impression on the road. That said, vinyl wraps require a slightly different approach to your typical family car. Most vinyl wraps, particularly those produced using high-quality materials, can withstand an automated car wash or pressure washer if used correctly. Still, the best way to care for your vinyl is a good old-fashioned hand wash, using mild detergent and avoiding heavy pressure. That way, scratches and tears are far less likely to occur, and your livery will remain pristine for longer.

Avoiding abrasive polishes or cutting compounds that can damage the vinyl is also important. Waxes and other specialist polishing products might work on paint but will dull the finish of a vinyl wrap.

Tough Stains

Something slightly stronger might be necessary for those vehicles doing the heavy miles in all weather conditions. Well, for those tougher stains, don't go overboard. From bird droppings to bug splats, plenty of specialist products exist to make light work of stubborn dirt and stains. Work slowly and methodically; never scrub or use any abrasives that can scratch or tear the vinyl.

Beware the Sun

Your vehicle livery reacts much like car paint in the sun, and repeated exposure to high UV and direct sunlight does risk damaging the materials. If left in direct sun for days, the vinyl will eventually fade and peel. In an ideal world, parking your van under cover or in the shade is preferential. This can also help protect the vinyl from acid rain.

The Best Materials

Finally, and most importantly, to keep your vehicle wrap looking its best, use the best materials for the job. If you want to create a long-lasting, premium-quality van wrap, consider using cast vinyl. Cast vinyl is designed with durability in mind and can last up to 8 years if applied correctly.
