Meet the Team – Steve Harrison (Graphics Planning Manager)
Graphics Planning Manager Steve Harrison is integral to the HEX Graphics team, leading and managing various crucial day-to-day functions. He is also one of our most experienced team members, joining in 2007. Here, he reflects on his career and what he sees for the future of HEX Graphics.
"As Graphics Planning Manager, I have a lot of responsibilities and work across departments to ensure everything runs smoothly and jobs are delivered on time. It's an interesting and multi-faceted job, and that's why I love it. Every day is different, and you never quite know what you'll be working on when you come through the door.
"Commercial graphics is a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines – it requires a huge amount of teamwork and everyone pulling in the same direction. Thankfully that's exactly what we have. Every day I see our teams in action, from production to application; even our offsite team are closely involved in everything we do. This ensures the highest quality finish for our customers.
"Of course, there have been challenges, not least with the supply of materials and vehicles. I've learned over the years to be positive and always work with a smile on my face; that's how to get the best out of people, and it is reflected in the work they do. Every day, this job keeps me on my toes, but we have some great people, and I've loved seeing the business grow and develop in recent years. I've especially enjoyed working with our apprentices and bringing the next generation of talent into the business. They offer so much to our business and have an infectious enthusiasm that rubs off on everyone.
Steve is an avid Stoke City football fan in his spare time, holding a season ticket for the last 40 years. He also takes to the stage in musical theatre at Five Towns Theatre in Stoke-on-Trent and is currently rehearsing for his 9th show, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, which he'll perform in November. Steve has also become Vice Chairman for the theatre, reinforcing his passion for musical theatre.
"Looking to the future, I'm excited to see where the business can go. We're still growing, and the team keeps getting bigger; it's an exciting time to be at HEX Graphics."
